Motocross rule changes

Federation FIM announced some changes in the rules of the World Motocross Championship, which will take effect in 2014. The main change has exceptions to the MX3 class championship.



Recall that in the MX3 class pilots competed two-stroke motorcycles with an engine capacity from 290 to 500 cm ³ and four - with an engine capacity from 475 to 650 cm ³.

The changes were made and the rules for the "younger" classes. Thus, in the MX1 and MX2 races will now be the time is 30 minutes + 2 laps - that such rules are now provided for the duration of the national series AMA Nationals.

Was abolished and the rule of qualification "108%" - any pilot had to show time, the best or equal to 108 percent of the average time of the TOP-10 pilots during the qualifying session. From now on, the riders will not be disqualified, but the organizers will still be able to remove at will too slow pilots.



From next year the MX1 class will change its name to MXGP. In the "new" class will compete two strokes capacity ranging from 175 to 250 cm ³ and chetyrehtaktniki capacity from 290 to 450 cm ³. Number of riders will be reduced from 40 to 30.

In the MX2 cubic capacity and the number of pilots will remain the same. Remember, this is 100-125 cm ³ for two-stroke motorcycles, 175-250 cm ³ - for four, and 40 potential participants in advance. Will remain the same and the maximum age of the participants - 23 years. Now defend the title in MX2 can be only once, next year it can be done repeatedly.

The new rules were supported by representatives of the Association of Manufacturers of sports motorcycles, the commission Grand Prix Motocross, promoter Youthstream and several representatives of the FIM.
