The first tests of new motorcycle Norton





In Great Britain on a track of Donington park where the British stages of MotoGP is passing, have taken place the first tests of a new motorcycle of legendary mark Norton with rotor engine.

According to eyewitnesses, the sound with which this rushes on a track bolid under modelling designation Norton NRV588, is simply unique. According to preliminary data, capacity two-cylinder rotor engine of this motorcycle hasf 588 cubes – 160 h.p. However, on the first test to the racer was possible to pass only two cycles, and on the third exhaust system of the bike has broken.


We will remind, businessman Stuart Garner has redeemed the rights to trade mark Norton literally last year, and already during the current year the company plans to create the new modern motorcycle designed by last word technicians. Now for these purposes the new factory is under construction – building is conducted in Donington park, nearby to the well-known line where races on Grand prix of Great Britain are held.

In ambitious plans of the company-manufacturer – again to make mark Norton known and authoritative all over the world. Besides actually motorcycles, it is planned to let out spare parts and accessories, and also equipment under own brand. Now company Norton Racing Ltd is engaged in working out new racing bike with rotor engine. And the new road motorcycle as already it was marked above, is planned to present to general public in 2009.

In the early nineties brand Norton and a number of others have been redeemed American Norton Motorcycles, Inc. The company planned to develop new motorcycle Commando for the American market. For preliminary workings out it has been spent about 10 million dollars. Norton Commando has been presented in 2004, but then this project has calmed down, and now on the sly revives in new hands – brand Commando too is got by Garner.
